Why I Hike

Straight out of high school I knew that college wasn't for me. I wasn't ready to make a foundation for the rest of my life or get myself trapped by debt. So not having any goals and my love for the outdoors made it easy for me to get into the Pacific Crest Trail.

I heard about the Pacific Crest Trail through my boss when I worked at a Ski School. His story starts On the U.S.- Mexico border with his Girlfriend and two dogs and ends with him on one knee in Canada with his Fiance and two dogs. When I heard how he spent his summer I knew it was for me, and immediately started to research. After I researched, I planned, and then I started preparing.

Growing up in Washington State has exposed me to what the world has to offer. I visited everything from The Olympic Coast and Mountains, The Cascade Range, Mount Rainer, and Eastern Washington and I have loved all of it. Backpacking, Rock Climbing, Skiing, Snowshoeing, Cycling, and Running are my favorite activities. The community that joins me in these passions is strong. They trust, share, help, love, guide, and support each other. The scenery is always astonishing. And lastly the peace that is consistently present always calms my mind, body, spirit and soul.

I will keep adventuring to find new things until I die. Nothing brings me more joy then opening more roads in my life, and following as many as I can will always be my goal.
